Reading Roadmap
This a list - in order - of readings that go with the course. For students in the class, go by the announcements in Blackboard for details and deadlines. (Italics: being edited)
- Skim the books by Layton, Villafiorita, and Note. Characterize the project management style(s) described in each one. Prepare a 1-paragraph explanation of one of those styles (e.g., focus on one of the books).
- Paper on Virtual Collaboration (C. Lesko)
- Planning and Scheduling
- Project Management for Information Professionals Chapter 4 (planning and scheduling)
- PMBOK Guide: Chapters 5 and 6
- Read chapter 2 in Project Management for Information Professionals.
- Read chapters 3 and 4 in Project Management for Information Professionals.
- Read chapter 5 in Project Management for Information Professionals.
- Read chapters 2 and 3 in "Agile Project Management for Dummies"
- Read "Implementing Cisco Networking Solutions" up to and including the section "Facets of a digital infrastructure"
- Read chapters 1 and 3 in "Finance and Accounting for NonFinancial Managers, 3rd Edition". (Depending on your knowledge of accounting terminology, you may need to read at least parts of chapter 2).
- Read chapters 6 and 7 in "Finance and Accounting for NonFinancial Managers, 3rd Edition". (Depending on your background you may need to read other parts of the book).
